Welcome to My Guitar Collection

I have been collecting guitars for about 20 years now. I have a variety of guitars and have enjoyed each one. Each guitar was more or less sought out for individual reasons. It may be the model type, it's a collectable piece, wood type, just looks cool or the technology built into it, but one thing they all must have is they feel right and play well to me.

I have always enjoyed playing guitar and also enjoy in the artistry that goes into how each one is made.

This blog is not created for vain purposes, but just to post my guitar collection to be able to share the pictures with other guitarist and/or collectors.

I hope you enjoy!

Drifter Acoustic

This is an acoustic guitar made by Drifter. It was contributed to the collection by my wife. This was her fisrt guitar. I don't know much more about it than that.

Epiphone Goth Flying V

I picked this up .. why.. because it's cool. I have always wanted a V. The Gibson's are very expensive to pay for a guitar that's hard to play except standing up. This is more about getting a cool guitar than anything else!

Based upon Gibson's very successful "Gothic" line, the Epiphone Goth Flying V features a satin-black finish and black hardware for an absolutely wicked look. Add to that, a roman numeral "XII" inlay on the 12th fret, a Celtic Cross on the headstock and '57 Classic Alnico-V Exposed-Coil Humbuckers, and you've got guitars guaranteed to "wake the dead!"

Ernie Ball - Luke Model

This is a great playing guitar. I saw this guitar while I was away again! I had been looking for one that I could play before buying it. You know, I wanted to test drive. So this was my chance. I loved it, but I didn't have the money for it. When I got back home, I got some $ and called to see if they still had it. They did.. I bought it.. they shipped it. So here it is.

Ernie Ball did redo the guitar somewhat since this, my earlier model. Mine has the Floyd Rose tremelo.

Ok, I have to say, I really love this one. It looks awesome, it plays awesome and it sounds awesome. This is definately a guitar made to look good and rock! It's also not as heavy as a Les Paul.

59 Gibson Les Paul Jr

This guitar is very special to me. It was my dad's that he purchased new in 59. It's got some years on it, but it still plays well. This guitar was sold once, but my dad bought it back for me to have and I have held on to it since. The person who bought it, took off the original tuners and bridge. Only to improve the guitars playability, but lost on the originality. It's still a great guitar and means more to me since it was my dad's.

Features
Some Les Paul Jr models were produced with 3/4 scale necks on the full size bodies. In 1958, double round cutaway body, tortoise pickguard replaced original part/design. Cherry finish became available. Mohogany body and neck, 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with dot inlay, wrap-power stop tailpiece, 3-per-side tuners with plastic buttons, nickel hardware, single P-90 coil pickup, volume/tone control.

Gibson Custom Shop ES-346 Paul Jackson Jr Signature Model

This was an extremly lucky find. An awesome guitar. This one looks good, plays good, sounds good and is a collectable. Many thanks to Ken who sold this one to me. This guitar is just flat out great. I love it!

Features
Body size at lower bout: 14". Scale length: 24 3/4" Nut Width: 1 11/16"
Finish: Original tobacco sunburst, nitrocellulose type
Materials: Solid Honduras mahogany neck; tiger flame maple top, hollowed mahogany body; solid 22 fret mahogany neck; solid ebony fingerboard with compound radius.
Hardware: All gold hardware; twin '57 Classic pickups; ABR-1 tuneamatic bridge; gold bonnet volume and tone knobs; bound tortoise pickguard; gold Gibson mini-Schaller tuners; JP monogram truss rod cover.
Notes: Ace sideman, session man, arranger and composer, Paul Jackson Jr. has worked with music legends from George Benson to Barbara Streisand. The ES-346 was designed to his specs, with a tiger flame maple top and twin f-holes. The hollowed mahogany body offers greater sustain and feedback resistance, yet is distinctly lighter than conventional solid bodies. The snakehead design peghead permits straight string pull across the nut, and the deep twin cutaway permits full access to the compound radius 22 fret fingerboard.
This example is in as-new condition, with Custom Shop certificate, unsigned warranty card, and all tags and accessories. A highly versatile instrument for the working performer, and a very hard-to find model on the vintage market.
Setup: Trussrod tension and neck relief adjusted; bridge height adjusted; bridge compensation set; bridge wheels and tuners lubricated; fingerboard and bridge oiled; body and neck cleaned and hand polished.

Gibson Les Paul Joe Perry Signature Model

This is a beautiful flame top on this Les Paul. I also love the pearl pickguard. It has great tone and plays very well. This guitar looks as great to me as the day I bought it!

Features:
Joe Perry's signature Les Paul model is as unique as his guitar work with Aerosmith. A special bridge pickup wound to Joe's specs and an active mid-boost control with a tone-shaping circuit give the Joe Perry Les Paul the definitive rock and roll sound.

Global Acoustic

This is where it all started. I learned to play guitar right here. I remember going to a Brendles Department store to buy this guitar. My dad bought this for me to take lessons on. We couldn't afford an expensive guitar, so we found this one for $90. I am grateful that I had this guitar, although not a topend guitar, it was a good guitar to learn on. With a cool top too!

Godin Artisan ST-V

This is very cool axe. This also has a lot of sentimental value since my wife bought this for me as a birthday present. This guitar has some killer tone to it and plays well too. Godin no longer makes this model, which makes it even better to me.

I will post the features when I can find them.

Godin XTSa

This is another synth access guitar. This guitar has a very glassy clean sound with lots of tone. Not so much of a rocker, but does growl well with chunk. Very nice acoustic pickup. Nice top and super great guitar for the price!

Guild Brian May Signature Pro

How can you describe a guitar like this. This is the closest sounding & playing guitar to the original red special - per Brian himself. This model came out in 93. It really is a killer guitar. It sounds like the signature queen sound. It's in imaculate condition. The volume & tone knobs were changed to be more like Brians. I do have the original knobs. This guitar was one that I had always wanted for many years. There were only 1,000 of these made.

Rickenbacker 4003 Bass

First, I am a huge Rush fan and love the Geddy's bass sound from the early Rush recordings. I always wanted one of these and was lucky enough to get a good buy on this awesome bass. Somebody had ordered this guitar for their son, had it built specifically this way. The son then decided to change his hobby in for sports. This left the store with a this bass to sell.

The Rickenbacker 4003 Bass is famous for its ringing sustain, treble punch, and solid underlying bottom end. It's also famous for its distinctive, elegantly curved body shape, accentuated by a subtle strip of binding, deluxe triangular fretboard inlays, stereo output, neck-thru-body construction, double truss rods, and high output single-coil pickups with wide response range and unbelievable clarity. The Vintage Tone Selector activates a capacitor in the treble pickup circuit to emphasize the high end. Pressed in, you get the familiar 4003 sound, pull it out to add bite and crispness.

Seagull S12 Acoustic

12 string guitars sound great. I only wish it had the electronics in it so I could use it more live. I bought this guitar sometime back in the 90's. It's again a great guitar for the money. It's made out of cedar and it look, plays and even smells good!

Features:
I will post them when I find them

Sigma 10th Anniversary Acoustic

This really is a nice playing and sounding acoustic. My wifes parents bought her this guitar while she was taking lessons when she was a young 15 year old.

Here are some cool comments that I've found about this guitar:
In 1980, Martin produced 100 Anniversary Sigmas (model 10), a solid mahogany dreadnought; equip one of these with a brass or ivory saddle, ebony bridge pins and medium strings and you can hunt down D-18's in the heaviest brush and stomp them to death --- it's a very loud and impressive guitar!

This Sigma is a 1980 model 10 Anniversary Edition Made in Japan. It has 20 frets with a solid spruce top which is heavily bearclawed. The back and sides are solid mahogany. The pick guard and body binding are tortoise shell and the finish is gloss nitrocelulose laquer over all.The fingerboard and bridge are rosewood. My understanding is that there were only 100 of these AnniversaryEdition D18 style Sigmas made to commemorate the end of the solidwood Japanes line. It has diamond and square fret markers and bridge decorations with pearl Martin style headstock logo and the word"Anniversary" inlayed at the last fret. Basically what we have here is a D18 with D28 HV fingerboard markers.

Taylor 312CE Acoustic

Zion RT Classic

This is a beauty of a guitar. Made with quality by zion. I always wanted a Zion guitar and one day my wife and I had been out for a day of shopping. Towards the end of the day, I decided to stop at a local store where this baby happened to be hanging up on the store wall. I loved it, and about 4 hours later I was heading home with it.

Features:

This has a beautiful quilt top with, with black chrome hardware, resophonic bridge, ebony fingerboard, sperzel locking tuning pegs and zion pickups. Translucent Purple finish

Epiphone Zack Wylde Les Paul Custom - Bullseye

Epiphone Zakk Wylde Les Paul Custom Electric Guitar. It's equipped with a pair of sizzling USA EMG-HZ H4 pickups, glorious gold hardware, maple top, mahogany back, hard maple set neck with rosewood fretboard, and Zakk's signature bull's-eye paint job. 24-3/4" scale,
1-11/16" nut width, Neck joint set at 16th fret.

Bought this on Nov 7. Still getting use to it. I am loving it so far, sounds great clean and distorted. getting use to the flatter fretboard. Very cool looking guitar too!

Jackson RR5 - Randy Rhoads Pro

This guitar reminds me of my old metal days. I couldn't believe how awesome Randy played when I first heard him on my way back from a family trip. I remember listening to my handheld radio in the back seat of the family car and they were playing a song from the new Ozzy solo album. I couldn't believe how cool the guitar sound and playing was. I also remember learning or trying to play his licks in the garage band I was in. And then devestated by his loss.

For a long time I have wanted one of these guitars. Now I have one and it's a Japanese model built very well and it rocks. I like this model alot since it resembles the one Randy played. Not exactly like it but close enough.

It is a very solid guitar and boy does it rock. Cool looks, solid construction, set-up well and plays fast. I am definately happy with how this guitar sounds thru my current rig.

Enough of that ... here's the specs:
The Jackson Pro RR5 Randy Rhoads model features neck-thru-body construction. This Rhoads model is an incredible guitar with an alder body, rock maple neck, two Seymour Duncan JB humbuckers and an adjustable bridge that strings thru the body. Details include a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with Shark Fin inlays and a comfortable, compound radius (12 to 14-inch); and gold-plated hardware. Made in Japan.

Agile Valkyrie Doubleneck

At last I have my hands on a doubleneck. This is an Agile that once again is definately bang for the buck! I have always wanted to have one of these since I was a little kid and watching Alex Lifeson play one for Rush. I have always been a huge Rush fan and still am. Even though Alex only played his on one song, it was so cool to see him break it out on Xanadu. This is a very cool axe, very solid, and now that I have spent some time setting it up better it plays great. I do prefer the Alnico V's over the Alnico II's that are in this guitar but it still sounds great. I will have to brush up on my 12 string playing now.

Fender Jazz - Geddy Lee Model

I am a huge fan of Rush and have always loved their music. Although I am a guitar player over being a bass player, I love Geddys playing and tone. So I've always wanted a Rick and now the Fender Jazz models... you know something like what Geddy plays and here my Fender Jazz. oh, this bass just sounds so good and play so smooth.

The bass has an alder body; the one-piece C-shaped maple neck (thin) has a maple fingerboard with black binding and black rectangular position markers. SX KY1 Amber

This is a cool guitar with a little bit of a Les Paul / PRS feel. It's got an Amber Flame top with Mahogany back and neck and rosewood fingerboard with abalone bird inlays. I bought this from the same friend that i got the Sx Strats. He upgraded the pickups to some GFS and the bridge has also been upgraded.

SX KY1 Ash

Another KY1 that is a great little guitar with tons of tone. The Ash top and maple fingerboard set each other off great. This guitar was also from the same friend of the Sx Strats. He modded this one to new pups with push pull single to hum in the middle humbucker and push pull for a mid sweep.

Dillion DXI 500

This is one really very cool guitar. This is a smokin hot rockin axe here. I am still stunned to find such cool guitars for such a great price. This is another one from my friend. He has upgraded the pickups which are both coil tappable. Giving you the flexibility of humbucker and single coil switching. 15k pots and this guy is ready to rock along all those active pups! Oh and it looks great too. Isis inlays abalone knobs ... it's all cool.

Ibanez (94) Jem 555

I took a trip downtown to hit the pawnshop to see if they had any cool bargains there and found that they were closed. Up the street, I went into a small local guitar store and found this guitar for sell. I looked it over then walked out of the store to do some quick research on it to see exactly what it was and how much it should be worth. After approval, I went back in and asked to play it thru an amp and liked the way it played and sounded. It was owned by a young kid that worked at the store and he was willing to come down on the price. This besides being a cool guitar, plays nicely and has that signature sound. The Jem 555 is a Korean made model (Cort Factory) not the Japanese model. These were more affordable for the guitarist on a budget.

Specs:

24/Jumbo frets
Rosewood Finger Board
Edge Pro II Bridge
DiMarzio Evolution (H) Neck PU
DiMarzio Evolution (S) Mid PU

Gibson SG Supreme - 2001

I have been gassing for an SG for a while now and I have never owned one so it was a challange to figure out exactly what I was looking for. I really liked the Epiphone SG Prophecy GX but couldn't find one anywhere to try out. I didn't want to spend the money for a gibson but found this one on craigslist and it kept coming back to my mind. I have always loved the SG Supreme but didn't want to spend that kind of money for one. This one was owned and played a lot.. a bit beat but still very worth it to me. So here it is and as you can tell I am always a sucker for cool tops and ebony fingerboards.

Specs:
The SG Supreme sports the Flame Maple top that for decades has distinguished the most valuable and desirable Gibson Les Paul models. Rich translucent finishes enhance the figuration of the wood grain, giving the SG Supreme a unique and memorable look.
